The Off Topic Post

They prefer not to be talked about but I am going to break that rule for my own personal reasons(I wont go into much detail about them). The punk movement was anti-mainstream, but these people took it up to a completely different level. They were all Satanists, and claimed to have no fear in death. They believed in darkness, not love, life, happiness and humanity. The world had taught them that it is a cruel, false, deceptive place, and that only pain and suffering can come from it.

They hated humanity so much that they moved into the nearby forests and actually lived their for a couple of months, until the harsh conditions forced them back. They aimed to be hated, dreaded and thought of as ugly by the common individual. Their mission was to help start the Black Holocaust, where mainstream humanity that didn't follow their ideas would be taken into slow torture and completely killed off. This circle of people believed they were 'demons' of some sort. Their 'art' was their music which they took very seriously, and their lyrics showed just how much they hated the 'worms'(humans), so any 'metal-head worm' who thought their music was 'cool' was looked at as in idiot by them.

By 1995, they had already believed that Black Metal was dead(they were rumored to have been either a response or inspired by the Norwegian 'Black Metal Inner Circle'. They were not part of it). Upon being asked about the Black Metal scene, they replied that it had become mainstream and has now only become worried about money and photogenic appearances. It wasn't just music in their personal view, but a perpetual hatred. This circle of individuals were noted for only making very few copies of their releases and demos(rumored to had been around five or six of each), and only giving them to close friends whom they trusted would keep their music in the darkness. Entirely an underground group, hardly anyone has heard of them or knows who these bands are, and even less is known about their history and what became of them(surprisingly enough, these bands are hardly known in the mainstream metal scenes).

In their eyes, suicide is regarded as the mightiest, most noble act. Death will make God and everyone else equal, for it is the ultimate point for all humanity to them. Sex is an undeniable sphere of Satanism, who's limits should be broken and looked more into. Hell is humanities destiny, and place of eternal reign. Finally, murder is their most beautiful way to deny life which is by destroying it. They dreamed of a world ruled by Satan, doomed in chaos.

Their songs reflected on their feelings of hatred, sadness and isolation, such as one member who would imagine committing a murder while he wrote music. All together, the circle remained amazingly under nine people. However, five of them wrote the bulk of the material, and the rest were declared 'betrayers' due to unknown events. They mixed and matched everyone to form several solo projects and bands which led to slightly over 40 bands made within those very few individuals.

Their music is defined as Black Metal and some of it was noted for being heavily influenced by early Bathory. Some bands were ambient projects and some consisted of twisted screams and chants(sometimes in a language that they themselves created) either by themselves or accompanied by slow disturbing sounds of perverse music. Some of the bands played either fast melodic Black Metal, heavy dark sounding Black Metal or even slow, atmospheric songs that brought emptiness and isolation to the listeners mind. Some bands are so weird that I can't even begin to describe what they sound like. Nonetheless, These bands became breakthroughs through the Black Metal genre and proved to be epic works of hateful art.

Their music was to remain in the darkness and never to come up into the light of the mainstream. However, betrayers made bootlegs of their demos and sold them, and this is how word of these bands got out. An endless amount of rumors were made, and in the end, the members of these bands disappeared and were never heard from again, except for one ex-member who is still active today(after faking his death for years) in a one man band project, but he refuses to answer any questions about his time in the circle he was once a part of. Now dozens of rumors are circulating the internet about them, and the bootlegs continue to be copied and sold. Unfortunately, no one will ever know the truth. They will remain as a mysterious part of Black Metal history.

I will do the members a favor and give no names out to anything giving out who they were and I am also disabling the comments for this post specifically. I don't agree with anything they say. This is just a simple off topic post. Nothing more. If you do somehow read this whole post, just disregard it.

Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs were an unusual band that surfaced on Crass Records with their single 'Beware' in 1982. Their music was very experimental, their lyrics were along the same lines as Crass, and they were the first of two American bands(they were based in San Francisco/New York) that had their singles released on Crass Records. The line up was leader Sue 'Bad Boy' Bachemin(a woman) on bass and vocals, Dirty Dog on drums and vocals and Helen Harmon on guitar, and they also featured John Simmons on guitar, The Great Jeff on electric violin and Jeff Mattson on guitar over time.

The band member named 'Dirty Dog' was responsible for designing the infamous Crass logo that was used on all the covers for all the other bands featured on Crass Records. They also managed to play at the Infamous Zig Zag squat gig, going on between Lack of Knowledge and The Apostles.

In 1982, the band recorded their debut single 'Beware' with help of additional drums from Penny Rimbaud and additional guitar by Phil Free from Crass. The band disappeared after the Zig Zag gig, and eventually changed their name to Brain Rust in 1986. The line-up for Brain Rust was Bad Boy and Dr. Mabuse on vocals, Pablo Wrytetwoski Pickles on bass and Dirty Dog on drums. The last known bits of material I have found by them is from 1988, which was recorded in Berkeley, California. It is unclear as to what happened to the band after that point.

"Same Old Story"

From generation to generation it continues.
Passing on the fear and the guilt.
Handing down
the lust for power
and the lack of vision that results.

From father to son,
the prejudice lives on.
Teaching the good old way.
How to exploit, to profit, to gain.
Let no one else have their say.

And some rebel,
but most agree.
As father would say:
"What's in it for me?"
So the boy takes the gun,
like a dutiful son.
The world's not yet destroyed.
Can he get the job done?
Can he get the job...
Can he get the job

Concrete walls are spreading.
You see them more and more.
Soon we will be so cut off,
we won't know what life is for.

Some are shocked in mental homes,
or locked behind prison walls.

The rest of us get office blocks,
highways and shopping malls.

Those shopping centres are advancing,
covering the hills.
This one has twenty restaurants.
To glut away our ills.

Back at the institutions
that wait beyond these walls.
Guards live in houses in a row,
and they're behind the fences too.

Radio waves don't like concrete
if your driving in a car.
you're trying to get a message through.
You have the radio on.
Your driving under an overpass
and the music's power is gone.

I love your butcher cook.
I love your garbage compactor.

I love your weekend house.
I love your living space.
I love your media wall.
I love your beta-max.
I love your conversation pit.
I love your Track lighting.
I love your high-tech taste.
I love your Doberman attack dogs.

I love their silver collars.
I love your sex encyclopedia.
I love your mirrored ceiling.
I love your black satin sheets.
I love your chromium handcuffs.
I love your therapist.
You seem to have such a perfect relationship.
I love your friends.
I love you.
You love me.
We all love each other.
We all love each other.

"(I got my Tan in) El Salvador"

In San Salvador,
and Guatemala City,
joggers run through rich neighborhoods each mornings.

Young couples dance at disco in the evening.

Soccer fans jam stadiums
for weekends.

Death squads in the street.
They do what they want.
Each morning the women go out.
They try to wake the dead.
The bodies are difficult to recognize.

Lists composed by army collaborators.
The military is suffering from paranoia.
anyone not in uniform is suspect.

They rape.
They torture,
and then they kill.

Unspeakable violence.
Unimaginable suffering.
Too many bodies.
Too little land.
Decades of oppression
by military governments.
Supported by America.

I sit crouching,
cleaning my gun,
cleaning my equipment,
filling my canteen,
making up by bedroll,
for I must be ready to move
at 2 A.M.

I draw out my 14 inch bayonet,
test its edge,
find it sharp enough.
Before battle, I can see myself blasted to mangles by a bomb.
Or blinded by rock fragments.
Or pounded crazy by artillery.
Or gelded by mortar shrapnel.
Or pierced by bayonet-
pierced through the belly, wriggling helplessly.
Pierced through the throat-
pierced through the groin and anus.
Pierced and pierced again.
Pierced through the chest hearing the bone grate.
Pierced through the temple, feeling the bone crumple.
Pierced through the back and nailed.
Pierced through the spine and paralyzed.
Pierced through the lips and tongue, biting on steel,
or buried alive under crumpled roof.
Or skewered by tracer bullets.
Or torn apart by grenades.
Or killed,

Urban Decay

Urban Decay began life in Harlow around 1977 while all the members were still in school. Unfortunately, in 1978 the band dissolved, leaving Till, the guitarist, by himself. Fortunately, he found Maz and got him to play bass, and Dean was found to handle the vocals. The band went through several line-up changes looking for a drummer, and this played a big factor in why they were never really able to release anything. They played gigs regularly with bands such as The Eratics, Epileptics(The band before Flux of Pink Indians), The Newtown Neurotics and several more.

The line-up they managed to settle and record with became Dean Tisbury on vocals, Steven 'Till' Timcke on guitar and David 'Maz' Marriot on bass. However, they were often helped by Micky Howard from Sods on drums, Kev Hunter from the Epileptics on guitar and Stringy from the Eratics on additional vocals. A later version of the band around the end were the original three alongside Nigel 'Rhino' Trotter on drums, Olly on additional vocals and Ray Jones on saxophone. By 1982, the band split up, and all the bands around them had managed to get records out, but they never managed to release anything. The struggle to find a permanent drummer and their lack of commitment played a role in that.

I have no lyrics for this band. If anyone knows any, please post them in the comments!

Toxic Ephex

Alongside Oi Polloi, A.O.A., Alternative and Political Asylum, Toxik Ephex were another of the very few anarchist bands from Scotland noted to have been associated with Crass. Life began early for the original members, forming the band 'The Abductors' on the day Sid Vicious died in 1979 while they were all still schoolboys. The original line-up was Gary 'Weeeck' Dawson, on vocals, Keith Thompson on drums, Stephe 'Steppe' Dempster on bass and Fred 'Inspector Blake' Wilson on guitar. After a short while, Keith was replaced by Jimmy Sim on drums, and Trouper was added on bass. The following year in 1980, the band had developed a questionable reputation and had to change their name to Toxik Ephex, which was taken from a medical book, from Fred whom was working as a pharmacy technician at the time.

Gigging then began and soon enough, the band went into the 62 Club to record their song 'Police Brutality' on a reel to reel machine which was cut from a live show. It was sent to Crass, and released in 1982 for the Bullshit Detector 2 album. However, by 1982 the band was starting to become inactive, which led to their drummer Jimmy selling his drum set and leaving the band, being replaced by Chiz, and Trouper also being replaced by Mikey 'Gloo Pimp' Smith on bass. Afterwards, Gary left and was replaced by Dod Copland on vocals, and Fred's brother Dave Wilkinson filled in rhythm guitar until Steve Anderson took over. Unfortunately, Steve Anderson was replaced by Frank Benzie, and this became Toxik Ephex's 'classic' line-up.

With keeping the 'Do it yourself' attitude, Fred started his own label called Green Vomit Records. With support from Oi Polloi, and money raised from their gigs, Toxik Ephex entered Pier House Studios in Edinburgh to record their 'Punk as Fuck' single. the original singles were handmade and sold out very quickly, so they were repressed, but with printers this time due to popular demand. The three song titles: 'Fallout Shelter', 'Always Skint' and 'Nothing's Permissive' pretty much summed up what the band's views were of contemporary life.

In 1987, Toxik Ephex teamed up with Oi Polloi and released the split L.P. 'Mad as Fuck'. The record was recorded the exact same way the one before it was. It was featured on Fred's label and recorded in the same studio. The record gave the band yet another boost, and they soon began working on their next E.P.

1989 saw a split E.P. release by Toxik Ephex and Shrapnel on the Words of Warning label. During the same year, the band recorded their debut album 'The Adventures of Nobby Porthole the Cock of the North'. The band carried on, but the unemployment and lack of money were starting to get the best of the band. They could had signed on to big labels, but the band refused to sell out which led to their demise.

Fred left the band to play elsewhere, and Chiz followed slightly after. This is when Toxik Ephex disappeared. Fortunately, every now and then the band reappears to play random one-off gigs around their area with a constantly changing line-up, and still do to this day. 2006 saw a new 7" titled 'Civilised' release. In 2007, their retrospective double CD was released titled 'Punk as Two Fucks'.

"Fallout Shelter"

Everywhere you go,
there's a black cloud hanging low
its mushroom shaped,
but it's all in your mind.
But what are you going to do
when your nightmares come true
and you find you've got no place left to hide.

I'll play no part in the world today.
I wanna go lock myself away
from you,
and your wicked world outside.
Do you think I care what happens to you?
I wont come out whatever you do.

I'll build myself a fallout shelter and hide
from you
when your dreams come true.
I can see it through.
I'll build myself
a fallout shelter
and hide.

What's gonna happen to you,
when the warnings come through,
and you find you've got 4 minutes left to die.
You'll come crawling to me.
You'll be begging on your hands and knees
You can do what you like,
but this is what I'll say.

I'll play no part in the world today.
I wanna go lock myself away
from you,
and your wicked world outside.
Do you think I care what happens to you?
I wont come out whatever you do.

I'll build myself a fallout shelter and hide
from you
when your dreams come true.
I can see it through.
I'll build myself
a fallout shelter
and hide.

I'll play no part in the world today.
I wanna go lock myself away
from you,
and your wicked world outside.
Do you think I care what happens to you?
I wont come out whatever you do.

I'll build myself a fallout shelter and hide
from you
when your dreams come true.
I can see it through.
I'll build myself
a fallout shelter
and hide.

"Nothing's Permissive"

You want to make me go to war
because it's good for my country.
it's good for me,

Got to get up at seven o'clock
five days of the fucking week,

Nothing's Permissive.
It's just a prison.
That's what you tell them
but they wont listen.

Nothing's Permissive.
It's just a prison.
That's what you tell them
but they wont listen
to you.

Make me a killer with a gun in my hand.
Trained to kill for the good of the chance,

You want to make it all compulsory.
Youth unemployment without asking me

Nothing's Permissive.
It's just a prison.
That's what you tell them
but they wont listen.

Nothing's Permissive.
It's just a prison.
That's what you tell them
but they wont listen
to you.

Mother tells me that my dad
never had the freedom that I had
Too bad.
I want to be just how I feel,
not just some Cog in Society's wheel,

You want to make me go to war
because it's good for my country.
it's good for me,

Got to get up at seven o'clock
five days of the fucking week,

Nothing's Permissive.
It's just a prison.
That's what you tell them
but they wont listen.

Nothing's Permissive.
It's just a prison.
That's what you tell them
but they wont listen
to you.

Decadence Within

Decadence Within actually began as Ammonia 77, and they were both started by Ian Glasper(he wrote the book titled 'The Day the Country Died') and his cousin Mobs. Around December of 1984, after several gigs as Ammonia 77, the two decided that they wanted to do something much more faster and serious. Mobs was unable to find a decent drummer, so he taught himself to play drums, and replaced himself on guitar with 'local rock dude' Rob Clarke. Mobs taught Ian to play bass, so he remained as the bass player, and Kev Brookes was recruited on vocals. After two gigs with that line-up Rob left, and was replaced by Kris Edwards, and Kris's sister Andrea 'Am' Edwards joined as an additional vocalist, and Decadence Within was ready.

The name Decadence Within was decided because according to their bassist Ian Glasper:"Well, we didn't want a silly name, and we didn't want a name beginning with "The"! I was reading a book by Henry James, all about a young American girl who comes to Europe and falls prey to the corruption of society there. The novel is about decadence, in people and institutions and even cities, and it got me thinking. There's good and bad in everyone and everything, and I suppose it's all a matter of weighing the two up before you pass judgement". Also noted as an influence, some of the members became vegetarians upon buying and listening to Flux of Pink Indian's "Neu Smell" E.P.

Their first three tracks appeared in the 'Shall we Dance?' L.P on the Meantime label, and were recorded at Rich Bitch, Birmingham, on July 4th, 1986. Their first E.P(picture above is the cover). is called "Speed Hippy" and was recorded in the same studio on October 19th, 1986. Afterwards, their guitarist Rob was replaced by Giovanni 'Giv' Guigliamoni , and more material was recorded for a single in the same studio on April 5th, 1987, but it was never released('A Breathe of Fresh Air' is located in this studio session). In August of 1987, Decadence Within recorded and released two tracks with 'Component' appearing in the 'Airstrip One' compilation on Mystic Records, and 'Crushing of the Intellect' appearing in the Peaceville compilation 'A Vile Peace' alongside other bands such as Chumbawamba, Civilised Society? and Revulsion.

After this point, the band went through several line-up changes, changed their sound several times, released numerous singles and albums and played hundreds of gigs all across the United Kingdom. A lot of the early band members protested and fought alongside the Animal Liberation Front, and some were even tested in court, but this just proves how serious they were to help stop animal cruelty. They played with dozens of bands, including an early tour with the Smart Pills, and gigs with bands such as Antisect, Instigators, Civilised Society?, Shrapnel, Symbol of Freedom, Deviated Instinct, and Wat Tyler. The band continued on , until they eventually released their last demo and split in 1995 after deciding that the band had run it's course, and that they all needed to move on to other things. Ian  Glasper still plays in a band called 'Suicide Watch' and has written several brilliant books such as 'Burning Britain', 'Trapped in a Scene' and 'The Day the Country Died'.

"High and Mighty"

Fuck the people who'll make you work, and strip you of all dignity
by chaining you to a factory, another industrial lavatory
where you'll lose your sanity, for the government's vanity.
Lost in a timeless cavity, doomed to live so wastefully.

Fuck the people who'll make you'll make you kill, make you laugh when people die.
Not caring as the children cry, watching with a merciless eye
as they drop fire from the sky, never thinking or asking why.
Never thinking that they lie, from their thrones so mighty and high.

Fuck the people who thrive on death, butchering animals every day.
Killing coldly for their pay, ignoring what protestors say.
Continuing their savage way, animals are their helpless prey.
Murdered by man, paying the price, are we so fucking civilized?

Meanwhile in the abattoir, another animal meets it's death.
Dying for a humanity who really just couldn't care less.

"Bloodlust of the Wealthy"

Dawn and death is in the air, a fox is searching for it's lair,
but the country gents love their sport, and the noble scum
say he must be caught.
The hounds are running in a pack, the weaker ones forced
to the back.
Trampled by horses if they get in the way, trained to kill as
their masters say.
The dogs have a cent, the fox is near, there's bloodlust in
the huntsmen's leer.
A horn is blown, the fix is found, driven by pride they run
him to the ground.

What pleasure is there in killing a fox? Seeing it torn to
pieces by a pack of dogs?
Sadistic delight as the blood runs, stopping to kill just for
The end of the chase is drawing near, the fox is spurred
on by its fear.
Trembling, exhausted, it breathes its last breath, it can't
protest against it's bloody death... There's no excuse for
this slaughter.

"Where's a Solution?"

Fall to the floor with a bloody face, vanish into the crowd
without a trace.
Flash of a knife, nowhere to hide, blood rushing from a
wounded side.
Bloody eyes, alcoholic haze, fall to the floor in a daze.
Why not do something positive instead of waking hours
later in a hospital bed?
Work together on the road to peace, while leaders kill
whomever they please.
It may seem good to see someone fall. but a kick in the
head solves nothing at all.

And Dr. Death makes the decision,
to take my life with another incision.
To use my death to further his name,
he'll remove my eyes or maybe my brain.
He'll pull off my arms for mankind's health,
develop bombs to destroy himself.
He'll torture my nerves, monitor my pain,
he'll smash my legs, then do it again.
He'll feel no pity at my agonized cries,
he'll fill me with drug so I can't die.
But the hope to die is all I have left,
and all there is is another test.
Pushed into cages, hit to the ground,
my tongue torn out so I make no sound.
To annoy the men in the white coats,
who as I squirm stand and gloat.
And they're paid good money... blood money.
My eyes, your hair, at least you could care;
I die, you smile, it just isn't fair.
Ripped to shreds, saved from death,
put back together for another test.
My body, your soap, another dose,
long ago we gave up hope.
Of release from this hell... This deformed shell.
This body was mine until you made it blind.

"So much for their Law"

Do their best to stop demonstrations,
erect their barricades.
Bringing in more police,
to crush any feelings of unease.
We've gotta fight the police who protect the state,
unite and win and return their hate.
Smash the labs the police protect
and free the animals they vivisect.
Time after time, break the law,
challenge the authority that makes us crawl.
Attack again those that kill,
until those bastards have had their fill.

Stand up and fight and something might give,
remove the fear under which we live.

If people knew what went on inside these laboratories
perhaps they would think again before they used such cruelty.
Then perhaps animals would get the protection that they need.
But the police ensure these animals can never, ever be freed.

"When you Stop Buying, they'll Stop Dying"

The vivisector smiles, his face becomes a grin,
when asked about the animals he's torturing within...
'It's for mankind we make these animals blind,
searching for a cure that we'll never find...'

It's such a fucking con, no one sees it's wrong.
Animals feel the pain, it's always been the same,
throughout history, put through misery,
for humanity's sick games, animals take the blame.

And no one needs to live off dead animal's meat;
it's a pathetic tradition that we must kill what we eat...
Their flesh bleeds, they're just like you and me,
but still animals die for your luxury.

Foxes are ravaged for pleasure and fun,
birds smashed by mankind's gun.
In circuses wild animals are denied liberty,
thousands are skinned to fuel your vanity.
Whatever happened to equality?

This fucking farce stinks of blood and death,
our civilization relies upon flesh
of men and animals to fuel it's greed,
to supply the people with what they don't need.

Listen well to what I say, for it's a matter of life and death.
We've reached the final act of history's play, and the Earth
is breathing it's final breath.
Now is the time, the bombs are primed, you better think
how to say goodbye.
The land is raped for the final time, nuclear fission is how
we shall die.

If it's not war, it'll be poisonous gas, with power stations
about to blow.
Dying, buried under tons of ash, but it'll be quiet so
we won't even know.
It's been the same since man found out, that he was
stronger if he crushed all about.
But when you're dying in the flames, you'll see such power
just can't be tamed.

Listen well to what I say, now is the time, the bombs are
In your eyes I see a reflection of the fires of Armageddon.

"A Breath of Fresh Air"

We bend in the wind of the system's power,
they raise their fist and we always cower.
Our personal freedom is the key to it all,
the only way to smash down their walls.

We bend in the wind of the system's power,
they raise their fist and we always cower.

We're bending in the wind of the system's power.
Bending in the wind of the system's power.

Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
We're Bending in the wind.

Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
We're bending in the wind.

Bend in the wind of the system's power,
they raise their fist and we always cower.
Our personal freedom is the key to it all,
the only way to smash down their walls.

Don't keep telling me what to do:
we're in this together if we want to see it through.
Learn to respect each other's feelings,
overcome the wounds that seem never-healing.

We bend in the wind of the system's power,
they raise their fist and we always cower.
Our personal freedom is the key to it all,
the only way to smash down their walls.

We're bending in the wind.

Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.

We're bending in the wind.

Bend in the wind of the system's power.

Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.
Bending in the wind.

"We Could be"

You and me, we could be, a force to be reckoned with.
I see doubt, in your eyes, our friends lies keep us
apart, lonely and divided.
We must act as one, if we're to overcome, the incredible
odds stacked against us.
United we must stand, if we're to have a hand, in changing
this world for the better.

So, what is a label? It's just a word, to make sure you're
just part of the herd.
Ignore my clothes, look into my head, see the loneliness
and the tears I've shed.

"Crushing of the Intellect"

People sipping beer, ignoring what they fear,
content to live a lie, built on compromise;
trapped in your hypocrisy,
doomed to mentality, destined to never be free...
Trapped in your own cell, of indoctrinated attitudes,
A narrow-minded hell, why can't you think for yourself?

There's miser in this world.
but you don't even want to know.
You don't even want to care,
as long as you've got your share.
It was you who made these walls,
only you can tear them down.
It was you who chose this lifestyle,
only you can turn things around.

He's here again, to cause me pain,
those sadistic eyes, those fingers that pry.
My cries are in vain, his pleasure's so plain,
he loves to hack, find new organs to attack;
he'll rip my skin, reveal what's within,
flesh oozing pus, then sewn back up.
It'll make his day if he can think of a way
to gouge out my eyes whilst keeping me alive.

Not the knife again to split open my flesh -
what have I done to deserve this death?
Disemboweled or infected with more disease...
Will someone help me, please?

He's here again, with my wage,
a token bribe for being his slave;
today's the day for which I wait,
I work real hard and I'm never late;
I'd never consider going against the grain,
because this regular job keeps me sane;
it's a regular prison with no guards you can see,
because routine is the bars and the wage is the key.

But to tell the truth, I may as well die,
because all I do is earn and then buy,
I spend my whole fucking life down on my knees...
Will someone help me, please?
Take control of your life right away, there's more to existence
then your pay-day.
Escape whilst you can, the system's machine, shrug off the
apathy induced by routine.
